Catch up and Pietra Pants

Pietra Pattern Review by The Fair Stitch blog.

Hiya everyone... Sorry I've been MIA the last month - yikes, A MONTH! I'm alright, happy and well, so don't worry 😀 To tell you the truth, I actually have not been sewing at all. Completely lost my sewjo. The last thing I sewed was another (yes, another!) pair of Pietra pants in yellow linen … Continue reading Catch up and Pietra Pants

Bonjour!

Welcome to my blog, I'm Faye, the resident stitcher here at The Fair Stitch. I'm Indonesian living in the North West of England.
When I'm not sewing, I love to spend my me-time either drawing, journaling, reading a book, or baking.
Please feel free to come in, say hi, and share your creative endeavours.
Thank you for stopping by. 🙂

Is it Christmas yet? 🎄 For once, I'm not sewing last minute Christmas dress 😂 and of course, no memade outfit is complete without Joy's famous memade necklace, right? 😉 Full post on this dress and pattern will be live on the blog soon. Happy Sunday, lovelies ❤ #thefairstitchsews #sewinglove #handmadewardrobe #memade #isewmyownclothes #sewistsofinstagram #dressmaker #seamstress #sewingblogger #makersgonnamake #sewist #instasewing #diyootd #liverpoolsews #simplicitybyme #mccallspatterns #m7948
Yaaay my first post for @fabricguysonline is finally live. It's a tutorial on how I made this maxi pleated skirt with Indonesian batik. Being Indonesian, I'm may be biased, but boy oh boy do I love this fabric! It cuts and sews like a dream 😍 Swipe for sketches on how I mapped out my pleats and "drafted" my roomy pockets. Head over to their Sewcial Network for the full post. 😀 #thefairstitchsews #sewcialnetwork #thefabricguysonline #memade #handmadewardrobe #sewinglove #sewistsofinstagram #isewmyownclothes #fabricaddict #seamstress #dressmaker #sewingblogger #makersgonnamake #sewist #instasewing
⭐ COLOURS ⭐ I have been really obsessed with these colours lately, from my makes and my paintings, to the stuff I bought, they're basically these hues; yellow (mustard), teal, and red (and coral). I'm not really into statement earrings, I don't know if I'll ever wear them, but those colours just make me happy. The yellow mustard linen is my beloved Pietra pants. Anyways, #HappyHuesday everyone. Have a colourful day 🌈 #colours #colourfultuesday #liveincolours
I do love planning my sewing projects in my sketchbook. I've tried Keep, Trello, Evernote and a bunch others, but digital note-taking/planning just doesn't work for me. To each their own, eh? 😁 Have a wonderful Monday, peeps ❤ #sewingproject #sketchbook #sewistsofinstagram #sewinglove #isewmyownclothes #sewingblogger #handmadewardrobe #memade
It may be cold outside, but I made another #gemmatank and I want to share it 😋 On the blog today I share a tutorial on how I swapped the bias finish for an all-in-one facing and used the burrito method for a neckline without opening. This is my favourite method and I love it more than bias finish. I think facing makes the garment look more... luxurious? Head over to the blog if you'd like to learn more about this technique, just beware this post is quite picture-heavy. Sneak peek of what I've been working on 😉 This project is a collaboration with @fabricguysonline and yes, it's Indonesian batik 😍 well, Bali batik to be precise. I don't usually go for black but the splashes of purple and the gradation of burnt orange just got me. You know, I'm embarrassed to say that I realised I didn't know much about our batik after all until I did my research for this project. I knew that batik from Java and Bali weren't the same, in terms of colour palettes and motifs. But I didn't realise that in West Java alone (where I was born and raised) there are AT LEAST 11 different distinctive motifs and colour palettes that are unique to each region in the province. For example, if the region is nearer to the sea, the "drawings" on the fabric would have wavy lines to represent the waves/sea. Obviously there are more factors in play other than the natural world of the area, such as their own customs and culture, religious beliefs etc. Interesting 🧐 #thefairstitchsews #happyhuesday #sewinglove #handmadewardrobe #memade #isewmyownclothes #sewistsofinstagram #fabricaddict #memadewardrobe #dressmaker #seamstress #sewist #slowfashion #sewing #sewingproject
