Hello stitchers, are you enjoying your weekend? It's been snowy with freezing temps here, perfect weather to stay indoors and sew, don't you think? 😉 I shared a while ago that I have a Pinterest board filled with sewing patterns/garment ideas I'd like to make this year, and the Winslow is one of them. I … Continue reading Winslow Culottes – Helen’s Closet | Pattern Review

Bonjour!

I'm Faye, the resident stitcher here at The Fair Stitch where I share my love for all things stitching and creative. I'm based in the North West of England, but originally from warm and tropical Indonesia.
I think I'm friendly (enough 😛 ), so feel free to come in, say hi, and talk sewing/art/knitting to me - or whatever craft(s) you're into.

Thank you for stopping by. 🙂

Had a bit of a rough week, so today I'm all about self-care; spending time in my studio making toile for my next project and a bit of painting later. Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday. Here's to a better week ahead 🍻💖 #seamstresslife #selfcare #dressmaking #janomesewingspot #sewist #sewersofinstagram #sewinglove #dressmaker #seamstresslife #handmadewardrobe #isewmyownclothes #makersgonnamake
Finally got the review for this amazing pattern up on the blog, the Willamette shirt by @heyjunehandmade 😀 This is my (first, planning to do two shirts) entry for the @indie_sew #shirtmonth event. I made view A in straight size 10 (I'm 38-31-39), the only change I made was shortening the bodice by 1.5" as I'm just over 5'2". I think the pattern is well-drafted and I could tell that it was made with a lot of love and care. If you were to follow the instructions to the T, you'd end up with a garment that's beautiful inside and out. Side seams are finished with french seam, yoke and facing are done using the burrito method for clean finish, and even the cuffs enclose the (dolman) sleeves' raw edges. You could just wear your shirt inside out to show off the beautiful finishes. 😄 My fabric is this beautiful aqua blue @seeyouatsixfabric viscose that I purchased from @material_girl_laura 😍 Head over to my blog for more details, link in bio ☝️☝️☝️ #thefairstitchsews #indiesewing #willametteshirt #shirtmonth #heyjunepatterns #seeyouatsixfabrics #dressmaking #seamstress #sewist #sewingproject #isewmyownclothes #handmadewardrobe #memadeeveryday #imakemyclothes #memade #dressmaker #sewersofinstagram #sewingblog #sewingblogger #sewinglove
Another scrap-busting project post is up on the blog today. I have been busy with mini projects this week, can't believe how much I enjoyed making these; the Noodlehead Canvas pencil pouch and Ohhh Lulu Kitty sleep mask. For the pencil pouch, I used medium weight denim leftover from my Jenny overalls and Clementine denim skirt, plus leftover Liberty tana lawn for the lining. For the sleep masks, I used cotton lawn leftover from various projects and viscose for lining. More details on the blog. This week's make is the ever so popular Winslow Culottes. I made mine with the elastic back and slash pocket hacks. Really enjoyed making these 😍 The fabric I used is viscose challis.
